Chapter 1826: The Madman's Journey (IV)
When Eddie regained consciousness, he found himself lying on the cold tile floor. He held his aching head and straightened his upper body. He used his forearm to support his body, then slipped and fell back to the same place.
He rubbed his aching shoulder with his right hand. Eddie looked around. In his hazy vision, he found himself in a dirty hospital ward.
It was not until then that memories came flooding back. Eddie remembered the last scene he saw before coming here.
A huge explosion.
He and Schiller embarked on a cross-universe business trip together, and the moment they stepped into the portal, the teleportation device exploded violently.
Eddie tried to sit up straight, bent his knees and pressed his head, shouting in his heart: "Venom...Venom!"
"I'm here."
"Then why didn't you say anything just now?" Eddie roared: "I thought something happened to you."
"Well..."
Venom rarely made a low sound, and Eddie became nervous instantly. Then he heard Venom say: "Because I was thinking, which one is funnier, you worrying about Schiller's emotions or you worrying about my emotions, hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!"
Hearing Venom's steady and powerful laughter, Eddie breathed a sigh of relief, his legs softened and he lay back in place. Venom said in his mind again: "Is there a possibility that you are the weakest among us? Worry about us is not as good as worrying about yourself."
"So Dr. Schiller is fine too ? "
"What kind of fantasy do you still have about him?" Venom said in a sympathetic tone: "If it wasn't him, I would give up chocolate for a week!"
This can be called a poisonous oath, so Eddie said half-believingly: "You mean Schiller blew up the portal? But why did he do that? What's the point?"
"Seeing you crying here is the greatest meaning." Venom said pointedly: "You haven't seen his true face yet. As long as there is fun, he dares to do anything."
Eddie sighed deeply, supported the dusty ground with his right hand, and stood up shakily. Judging from the pain from his body, he fell from a height of about two meters, and the parasite in his body didn't catch him at all.
As soon as Eddie thought of this, Venom started to complain: "The sound waves of the explosion are the natural enemy of the symbiote. I hid at the moment of the explosion. Who knew you would fall so fast?"
After moving his hands and feet, he found that there were no fractures or serious injuries, only a few small scratches on his elbows and shoulders, which Venom quickly repaired.
He stood in the middle of the room and looked around carefully. He soon found that this hospital had probably been abandoned for a while. Not only was there dust on the ground, but there was also a thin layer of dust on the surface of the table, the edge of the skirting, and the armrests of the beds.
When checking the direction of the dust on the armrests, Eddie found something very strange. The bedding of most patients was not folded, nor was it casually laid on the bed, but it seemed that it had never been touched after being opened.
If the hospital was evacuated in an orderly manner, this situation would definitely not occur, and the subsequent search confirmed Eddie's guess. There was unfinished food on the bedside table, and in addition to various medical information, there were also daily necessities, valuable personal belongings, and even house keys in the drawer.
If the patient was transferred to another hospital or the hospital moved, these things could not have been left in the original hospital, unless they hurriedly threw off the quilt and ran out of the bed, and never came back after rushing out of the room.
But even if one or two patients rushed out for some urgent matter, it would not be the case that all six beds in this ward were in this situation. Could it be that a disaster had occurred?
Eddie did not rashly open the curtains in the ward to look at the street, because it would be very easy to expose himself. Based on the principle of being cowardly, Eddie leaned against the door of the ward and looked into the corridor.
It was dusk and night was about to fall. The window at the end of the corridor sprinkled with blood-like sunset, and the corridor floor reflected the bright light in Eddie's eyes, which made him feel weird.
He heard heavy footsteps coming from the other end of the corridor. Eddie had no choice but to return to the room, lock the door, open the patient's private cabinet and start looking for weapons that could be used. Although he didn't know who the enemy was, he felt it was necessary to prepare weapons.
"What are you doing?" Venom asked, "We can just rush out and kill them all."
"Don't be silly." Eddie said as he searched for clothes, "There are always enemies you can't deal with. The situation in this universe is too weird. We have to make more preparations."
Venom was quite disdainful of this and kept humming in Eddie's mind, but Eddie was swiftly looking through the clothes in the patient's personal belongings cabinet, but as expected, he didn't find any weapons that could be used, but he found a bloody business card in one of the patients' suit jackets with "Housing Rental Manager Fodi Alcazer" written on it.
Just as Eddie was concentrating on looking at the business card, heavy and slow footsteps approached step by step. Eddie carefully closed the utility cabinet, and then dragged one of the metal utility cabinets against the door with great effort.
With a loud bang, a bloody face with exposed gums hit the viewing window. Eddie screamed in fear, stepped back repeatedly, and fell on his butt.
The twisted fingers scratched the glass, and the bloody face squeezed on the glass, looking even more deformed. Eddie was shocked. After a long time, he remembered to shout: "Mask! Mask!!!"
Instantly, Venom appeared. He stood up from the ground, moved his wrists and ankles, and with a wave of his arm, he smashed the cabinet that Eddie had moved to block the door against the wall inside. He pulled the door open and saw the full picture of the monster outside.
As expected, a zombie, and the part from the lips to the orbicularis oris muscle was completely gone, the whole gum was exposed, the teeth were incomplete, several of them were broken, and there was rotten meat between the teeth.
Venom didn't think so much. Seeing the humanoid creature, he instinctively grabbed his neck with his big hands, opened his mouth full of sharp teeth, and bit off his head.
The next second, he vomited.
He really vomited. Venom pinched his neck tightly with one hand and vomited out all the parts he had just chewed and swallowed, shaking on the spot like he had epilepsy.
"Did I just eat a pile of shit?! Ugh!"
Venom rushed to the other side of the corridor regardless of anything. He could hear the sound of water flowing in a room at the end of the corridor. Sure enough, he found a bathroom. The huge monster squeezed in from the door frame and turned on the faucet to rinse his mouth with water.
Eddie and Venom did not share the same sense of taste, so he didn't know what Venom tasted. Just when he thought of this, Venom turned on the sharing switch, and then Eddie vomited too.
It's hard to describe. The taste is a bit like rotten durian stir-fried with skunk blood and pickled bitter melon. More importantly, it's so rotten that you don't even have a chance to regret it.
Venom suffered a severe psychological trauma. He had never eaten such a disgusting thing since he was born, and it was the first time in his life that he tasted spicy food. A certain stimulating feeling spread in his symbiont factor.
"This thing is poisonous." Venom panted and said, "The virus is extremely tenacious. It is constantly killing your cells and trying to control your body. Fortunately, I didn't take much and vomited in time, so I cleared them all out."
"I don't remember how many times I reminded you, Venom, why do you think you can put everything in your mouth to taste it?!" Eddie supported the sink with both hands and slapped the table hard.
Venom was silent. Perhaps he was really scared. Eddie also felt that his words were a bit harsh. Just when he wanted to comfort him, Venom said in a low voice: "This is how the symbiote knows the world. If we want to truly know something, we must use the symbiote factor to decompose it."
"The toxin of that thing is very strange." Venom said in a puzzled tone: "It proliferates at an unimaginable speed, and it invades human cells with a very purpose. If I didn't know you better, you might have been infected by it now."
The deep fear in Venom's tone made Eddie unable to say anything to accuse him. After all, on the previous earth, there was nothing that Venom couldn't eat.
Not to mention poisonous spiders and poisonous frogs, he would eat even the most poisonous compounds, but obviously, he hit a wall this time.
Eddie could feel Venom's panic, although he tried his best to hide it. He felt that Venom was not afraid of the power of this virus, but his reckless behavior almost turned Eddie into a monster like that zombie.
Eddie sighed and said, "Okay, Venom, don't worry, I won't become like that. In addition to this strange toxin, what else do you feel?"
"It tastes terrible." Venom answered truthfully, "And there are no amines in the brains of other living people. I suspect that the strange toxin has caused their brains to mutate and produce something more disgusting. That may be the source of the terrible taste."
Eddie recalled the taste that Venom shared with him, and couldn't help but cover his mouth and lie on the sink to retch.
After a while, he straightened his body up and down, turned on the faucet and took a few sips of water, but didn't dare to swallow it. He rinsed his mouth and spit it back into the pool.
"Can that toxin hurt you?"
"No, but it can hurt you." Venom said helplessly: "It can't directly harm the symbiont factor, but it will proliferate in your body at an extremely fast speed and attack your brain."
"In order to fight it, I must wrap them with the symbiont factor and cut off the connection between this part of the factor and the main body so that they can completely leave your body."
"What if you cover my body with the symbiont factor directly? Prevent me from directly contacting the virus and separate us?"
"Okay." Venom's affirmative answer made Eddie feel relieved, but his next words made Eddie's heart tighten again, "But if the whole world is now full of this stuff, it means I have no food, and I can't get amines from this corrupt brain."
"Although I now have sufficient symbiote factor and stored magic energy, the reserve is limited after all. If it is not replenished, it will be used up one day."
Eddie immediately felt the urgency. He walked to the headless zombie and wanted to feel if he had any weapons. As a result, as soon as he approached, the body began to tremble violently.
Eddie hurriedly retreated back to the door. In his horrified eyes, the headless zombie twitched his limbs and slowly stood up.
