The Days of Being a Spiritual Mentor in Meiman

Chapter 20 Spider-Man and Daredevil

When Peter woke up again, he found himself in a cramped and dimly lit room. He saw a man in a red tights with his back turned, sorting out his equipment.

Peter was still in pain all over, but due to his extraordinary self-healing ability, most of his wounds had healed. The man turned around and said, "Boy, you're lucky. They just gave you some laxatives and anesthetics, nothing stronger, otherwise you wouldn't wake up now."

Spider-Man's mutant ability doesn't reach its peak right after it's acquired, but requires a series of training and stimulation. The later Spider-Man, whether in terms of strength, speed or self-healing ability, is dozens of times stronger than Peter now.

Although Peter has acquired mutant abilities for some time, he has to deal with ordinary people. Now his abilities are much stronger than ordinary people, so of course he won't think about how to improve his abilities.

Therefore, his body functions have not yet reached the level of being completely immune to drugs. The boss of the underground boxing ring gave him a lot of laxatives, combined with some anesthetics, and he got into trouble.

Peter said, "I remember you. You saved me, right?"

"You are lucky, kid, and it seems that you have some extraordinary abilities, otherwise you would be dead now."

Peter was also sweating. You can't expect a high school student to have strong vigilance against people. The people in the place where Peter lives are simple and the neighbors are kind. Uncle Ben is the same. He has always been positive in education. Peter has never seen any evil people. He said with lingering fear: "I thought..."

Then he hammered the bed hard and said angrily: "I will go back and teach that boss a lesson! He dared to drug me!"

"You don't really expect that there will be fair referees there like the World Championships, right?" Daredevil asked.

"Okay, I think your injury is almost healed. Get out of here quickly, kid. Hell's Kitchen is not a place you should come to."

"I'm not a kid." Peter said, "I'm Spider-Man."

"You're still far away." Daredevil said. Just as Peter was about to refute, a cane stopped beside his neck with the sound of wind.

The spider sense didn't react at all, or it didn't react in time.

Peter's cold sweat dripped down his forehead. Daredevil's movements were so fast that his extraordinary vision couldn't catch them.

What Matt learned from the stick man was not some kind of triangular cat kung fu. Although he was just an ordinary person, his various data had almost reached the limit that ordinary people could achieve. Coupled with his martial arts that had been tempered for thousands of years, he was even stronger than the little spider who had awakened the spider power.

Peter was just a young boy who had just started out. He swallowed and said, "Your move is so cool, man. I saw you used this move to save me."

As he said this, Peter made a boxing gesture with his hands swinging left and right. Daredevil put away his crutches and said, "If you really want to be Spider-Man, there are still many things to learn. If you are interested in this, you can come here to find me."

Daredevil is not a good guy. He is a very decisive hero in the Marvel world. He saved Peter not only out of sympathy, of course, part of it was because of his memories of his father's death experience, and he didn't want anyone to die in the underground boxing ring like this again.

But in another part, he also planned to find an assistant for himself. The assassination and injury that day made him realize that he couldn't be split in half by himself. He couldn't avoid the pursuit of his enemies while upholding justice, but if he had an assistant, things would be much easier.

Spider-Man was in line with his expectations. He was very capable and talented, but he was very immature and didn't know anything.

In this way, Peter began to come to Daredevil every now and then. He also realized that although he was strong, his skills were really poor and he had too little experience in dealing with people. Otherwise, why would he go to the underground to make money? With such martial arts, it would be easy to get as much money as he wanted.

Out of the desire to improve his life with his own abilities and a young man's envy of Daredevil's cool martial arts, Peter soon became more and more familiar with Daredevil and learned what he was doing.

Although Peter admired him very much, he felt that it was really unnecessary. How much could he do alone? He could not kill all the criminals in Hell's Kitchen alone. With such perseverance and perseverance, if he did something else, he would have started a family and lived a happy life.

But soon, as Spider-Man and Daredevil became more and more familiar with each other, he even stayed at Daredevil's residence for several nights during the holidays. He saw Daredevil bandaging his wounds alone countless times, and his attitude began to waver more and more.

Daredevil is indeed just an ordinary person. He does not have any super self-healing ability. Unfortunately, he is more sensitive to pain than ordinary people. Therefore, every time he is injured and bandages his wounds alone in the base, Peter can see that he is about to faint from the pain, but the next day, he still goes out to fight criminals as usual.

Although Hell's Kitchen is not as dangerous as Gotham, it is very likely to be injured if you want to uphold justice here. Sometimes you are hit by stray bullets in the gang's firing, sometimes you jump from several floors to avoid being chased, and you are also hit in close combat, leaving a large bruise. Every time Spider-Man sees these wounds, he has a complicated emotion.

He has already regarded Matt as a friend in his heart. Of course, he does not want his friend to be injured, but how can he dissuade Daredevil?

To dissuade him from seeking justice? Not to fight criminals? But Peter is very smart. He understands that even these painful wounds cannot stop Matt. How can he stop him with a few words?

Finally one day, Matt was shot in the calf again by the ninja who was chasing him. Peter helped him take out the bullet. Peter had never seen such a wound before, with the pungent and unpleasant smell of blood. It made his brain feel dizzy, the torn muscles were even visible to the bones, and Peter's hands were shaking in pain.

He is not the Spider-Man who has gone through iron-blooded training and become a real hero. Any high school student who sees this scene will not be any better than him.

As he helped Matt retrieve the bullet, he made a dry sound in his throat and said, "Why on earth are you doing this? Is it really worth it?"

"I thought you would have asked me earlier."

Daredevil leaned against the wall and changed his posture. His voice was trembling because of the pain. He said, "It can be seen that although your family situation is very ordinary, you should have an elder who loves you. I have a fairly happy family, and I have lived a very stable life since childhood..."

"You may be a little unsatisfied in school, but most of the time you are safe. I can see that you are complaining about the lack of money, but do you know? You are really lucky..."

In the dim cabin, Daredevil muttered intermittently like he was dreaming: "Actually, I am also very lucky. I was born in Hell's Kitchen, but my father is not a gambler or drug addict. He tried his best to protect me and let me... I have the opportunity to leave this hellish place and study outside..."

"He is a great father. In order to support me and allow me to leave here, he chose to become a black boxer."

"Yes, your fate should have been the same as his. He refused to fake the match when I went to see him fight, so he was killed by the bosses who opened the boxing ring."

Peter was so sad both mentally and physically that he almost didn't realize that he was crying. Daredevil was already a little unconscious from the pain, but he still continued to chant:

"You and I are very lucky, and there are some people who are unlucky. When their mothers were pregnant with them, they either drank alcohol or took drugs. They were born with drug addiction. In order to survive, they either worked for gangs or engaged in Some of the more dangerous and inhumane jobs, because life is too painful, they continue to be addicted to drugs and alcohol, and their children are also repeating their life..."

“…This is Hell’s Kitchen.”

"Yes... I am very lucky to have the opportunity to leave here, receive higher education, and practice martial arts. Since I am luckier than them, I have gained more than them, and have greater abilities..."

"...Then why should I not do this?"

Daredevil often calls Hell's Kitchen "this damn place," and Peter has heard them scolding those people countless times, cursing everyone in this damn place to go to hell quickly.

But for the first time, he knew that Daredevil actually really wanted to save this place. He really wanted to bring Hell's Kitchen out of hell with firm determination.

Peter really couldn't imagine how he could think of saving a place like this when he was already in this kind of environment. It was simply impossible.

But Daredevil still has to do it.

Peter was silent. When he took out the bullet with his hand, Daredevil screamed as if he was on the verge of death. Soon, he turned pale and fainted.

Peter stood in the middle of the room. He looked at the somewhat shabby room. Even anesthetics and bandages were not found here. Matt's wounds could only be wrapped with strips of clothing.

Peter felt a kind of anger, which was more violent and deeper than when he complained about having no money. He felt that Matt should not be in this situation. He was obviously determined, persistent and perseverant.

And he is a good person, and good people should be rewarded with good things.

Why are the bosses and shareholders of underground boxing venues so happy? Even the drunkards who died in their seats can have a good night's sleep.

But a good man like Daredevil could only endure tremendous pain and fell asleep in pain in this dark and narrow room.

With Peter's experience, he still couldn't figure out these questions, and these emotions were stirring in his chest.

He leaves Daredevil's station and runs around Hell's Kitchen late at night.

Using his spider powers, he jumped on the rooftops and shuttled through the New York night sky. The neon lights of casinos and nightclubs in the distance stayed on all night long. In comparison, these alleys sunk in darkness seemed like they would never go out. It will be as dark as daybreak.
