Chapter 34: 34, Dark Souls
Hoffa looked up and saw a small figure stumbling and flickering in the air a few times, each time appearing in another place. Bumping around like headless chickens.
It was a young dodo, not dead.
This is a creature that can't fly but can teleport.
I saw the bird hid in the bushes and shivered. Sensing Hoffa's eyes, it whined.
Both Joey and Hoffa stood up, but it became even more terrified. It flickered several times in a row, and finally hit a tree with its head and fell to the ground.
"There is one alive."
Joy immediately wanted to catch the bird. Unexpectedly, the dodo struggled and sent to the tree, trembling and refusing to come down. It was terribly frightened.
Joey quickly said to Hoffa: "You are young, it is less wary of you, help me get it down, this is the last of this group of dodos, and it may be the last on earth Now, don't let it run away."
The last one on earth, Hoffa's pressure suddenly increased. He clapped his hands friendly to the chick on the canopy, hoping to lure it down.
But the bird didn't come down, and didn't trust Hoffa.
With an idea, Hoffa took out two chicken legs from his chest that he had dropped off in the auditorium that night.
Smelling the scent of food, the young bird turned its head slowly. It was very hungry, but it was afraid of Hoffa and dared not come down.
Hoffa then put the chicken leg on the ground under its tangled eyes, while he raised his hand and backed away slowly.
It still wouldn't come down.
Gritting his teeth, Hoffa removed his wand and put it on the ground. The dodo turned around and looked at Joey next to him.
Joey immediately disarmed all the weapons on his body.
Boo!
The chick in the canopy disappeared, and then it appeared in front of the drumstick on the ground, gobbling it up. It should be that no big bird has fed it for a long time, and it is starving.
Hoffa waited for it to finish eating, took out another one, and walked over slowly. This time the dodo didn't dodge, and ate food under Hoffa's palm.
After gaining the other party's trust, Hoffa heaved a sigh of relief. After it finished eating, he quickly hugged the little dodo in his arms. Its body was warm and trembling, like a poor fluffy ball.
"Shh, it's okay."
The fluffy little bird felt Hoffa's stable mental strength, and his mood gradually stabilized.
Hoffa spotted a gash on the dodo's leg that was oozing strange blue blood.
Hoffa: "Joey, the bird is hurt."
"Who did this? Why did you kill the dodo?" Joey took out a roll of gauze from his waist, and while bandaging the bird's legs, he muttered to himself.
"Could it be some kind of predator?" Hoffa asked in a low voice.
"No, if it's a predator, why only kill it and not eat it? Nature rarely does genocide. Besides, these birds have no skills, but their ability to escape is first-rate. Anyone who can kill the dodo bird , must have a strong magical power."
Why? Hoffa looked at the piles of bird carcasses on the ground, and couldn't figure out why someone would kill all the birds. Psychopath or for some unknown purpose?
After bandaging the wound briefly, Joey said to Hoffa: "Let's go back and treat this bird first, and we must not let it have any more accidents. There is still one bird and a few eggs. This group still has it."
However, before he finished speaking, suddenly, there was a broken voice in the forest.
Whoosh!
A sharp arrow appeared from the darkness and shot towards Hoffa.
Hoffa sensed it, but had no time to react. In the nick of time, the ptarmigan gave Hoffa a push with its wings, pushing him against the tree trunk.
The arrow flew past Hoffa's ear and hit the Thunderbird's wing. It didn't pierce its feathers, but let it chirp painfully.
There was a flash of electricity in the air.
This scared Hoffa into a cold sweat.
He lowered his body like lightning, drew out his wand, and was always ready to start the ghost walk.
And Joey also quickly bent his bow and drew an arrow, firmly pointing at the darkness in the forest. "who?"
The archer appeared.
With the clatter of horseshoes, a half-man, half-horse creature slowly emerged from the darkness and appeared in the Forbidden Forest.
It was a tall centaur, a tall old centaur, with a long gray beard and well-developed muscles.
Behind him, a group of centaur slowly approached from the edge of the forest. Each of them bowed their bows and drew arrows, their expressions were extremely vigilant.
Joey slowly put down the bow and arrow, and pressed his hand on Hoffa's wrist, signaling him to calm down.
The gray bearded horseman was slightly surprised: "It's you, Joey?"
Joey asked coldly: "Do you want to die, Nan Nu, why did you do something to the students?"
The old horseman's gaze stayed on Hoffa for a while.
"Wrong person." The centaur said in an ethereal voice. "Now you are not the only ones coming to the woods, several people. They come with different missions, but the purpose is the same darkness."
Following his words, the surrounding centaur slowly put down their bows and arrows.
Joey immediately asked, "It's not just us? You saw the intruders, who killed the dodos?"
"The Celestial Eye is confused by appearances, the invisible future, and countless forks. We have reached the end of our destiny."
The bearded centaur looked melancholy and somewhat sentimental.
Joey: "Damn, what the hell are you talking about?"
The centaur shook his head.
"Judgment Day is coming, I have already seen the dark shadows under the night sky, and the flashing lightning in the sky."
Hoffa frowned, why did the centaur speak upside down, Joey asked him specific questions, but he always answered with some words that did not answer the question.
Apparently Joey thought so too. With a sullen face, he took a deep breath, grabbed Hoffa's shoulder, and said angrily, "Are you okay? If it's okay, then let's go. I still have important things to do."
After speaking, he was about to leave.
"Wait a moment."
Nan Nu stopped Joey.
Hoffa turned his head, only to find that the centaur's eyes were firmly locked on him.
"There is a shadow in your future, beware of dark souls, young man," said the centaur.
Hoffa's eyes widened, but Joey grew impatient.
"I really hope you guys can learn to communicate normally with people."
After speaking, he pulled Hoffa and quickly walked out of the siege of the centaur. Follow the way you came, all the way back.
The horsemen didn't follow, they just turned their heads and watched the two of them leave.
Walking through the Forbidden Forest, Hoffa was silent and prophesied. I actually met the prophecy.
Prophecy can be said to be the most annoying ability of Hoffa, and the prophet is also the most boring and troublesome profession in the world.
How many great powers and heroes are stuck in this for no reason. For example, Voldemort and Harry, for example Xiongba and Fengyun, for example Zeus and Kratos.
They all listened to a certain prophecy, then made drastic moves, and finally killed themselves alive. Not only cheated himself, but also cheated the protagonist. It only fulfilled the reputation of a prophet who predicts things like a god.
He still remembers watching the World Cup in his previous life, and someone predicted in the post bar that a certain team would win the championship. Of course, he didn't predict only one, he predicted 32. After the World Cup is over, he will open a small vest to put the old post where his prediction is successful.
You see, I am a god, I am the prophecy emperor.
Then the people below began to worship, the Prophet Emperor, the Prophet Emperor.
Very boring.
If it is still the normal world, someone suddenly said to Hoffa. Hey, there are shadows around you kid, beware of dark souls.
Hoffa will only slap and call, dark your mother's legs, right?
But after all, this is not a normal world. The world of wizards is very strange, and no one knows whether the prophecy is true or not. At least Harry Potter's prophecies have basically come true.
The centaur's words made Hoffa feel stuck in his throat and felt uncomfortable all over.
Back to the place where he entered the Forbidden Forest at the beginning, Hoffa couldn't help asking Joey: "What do those centaurs mean?"
"Don't worry about those centaurs, and don't believe what they say," Joey said disdainfully. "Those guys are a bunch of idiots living in the future, and their favorite thing to do is scare themselves."
Joey took the dodo in Hoffa's arms and said, "Help me up and go back later tonight."
The old man's words made Hoffa feel a little better. This person is a bit like Minerva McGonagall.
Joey stood by an oak tree and blew a whistle. Then, a soft ladder was hung from the oak tree, and he climbed up the soft ladder.
Hoffa looked up and saw that there was a large tree house above his head. It was dark when he came, and he didn't see it.
Follow Joey up the tree house. It was a big oak tree with thick branches, and it was not difficult to walk. Soon Hoffa was standing on the wooden platform between the canopy. It makes a thumping sound when you step on it.
Hoffa admired the old man a little. He built a tree house in a place like the Forbidden Forest and lived a solitary life. He is really a guy who can stand loneliness.
As soon as the door was pushed open, there was a creaking sound in the air. There were feathers and messy threads all over the place.
A group of chick-like creatures were huddled in a corner frightened by Hoffa's arrival. They had two oversized eyes, smooth light gray skin, slender legs, and flat feet.
A group of Bowtruckles were watching him curiously from their potted plants, and as he passed, the creatures thought Hoffa had invaded his territory and began squeaking and smashing small clods of dirt on his head. There wasn't much Hoffa could do with them, he hadn't had a course on Fantastic Beasts yet. Fortunately, Joey came in time and blew a whistle, and the Bowtruckles fell silent.
As Joey walked into his tree house, the chick-like creatures slipped out of the corner in a row again. Very timid.
"Are you familiar with magical creatures?" Hoffa asked.
"Cooked? Of course, I eat this bowl of rice." Joey said, crossing his arms. "There is no animal in the world that I don't know."
After he finished speaking lightly, he put the baby bird on the table, fetched some herbs and medicine bowls, and started to grind them.
"Take the bandage off for me, and I'll put some medicine on it," Joey said.
Hoffa did so, and now the chick had calmed down and was looking curiously at the Bowtruckle overhead.
After undoing the bandage, Hoffa asked again.
"Then do you know that there is a monkey with a shiny silver body and big eyes. It can always judge the position of the enemy."
"Phantom monkey." Joey nodded, "Of course I know, a very rare and unique creature with a certain ability to predict the future. Fur can also be used to make invisibility cloaks, how do you know? Have you ever seen that a creature?"
Hoffa quickly shook his head: "No, I just saw it in a book, and I'm a little curious."
He didn't want others to know about his fight with the dark wizard.
Old Joey didn't doubt him, he handed the ground medicine to Hoffa.
"Wash the wound and apply it evenly."
Hoffa did as he was told. He fetched some water and washed the wound on the dodo's leg.
Washed hands full of blue.
Joey handed Hoffa a towel and sighed: "The blood of the dodos is blue. They have certain spatial magic abilities and can move by flickering. It is very useful for the school to keep them here. Now If something happened to them, I’m afraid I will take the responsibility.”
"What?" Hoffa didn't expect this. "They're from the school?"
"yes."
"Why keep them?"
"Take their blood regularly," Joey said sullenly.
"Why do you need blood?"
"The blood of the dodo is an important ingredient in many teleportation spells, even Floo powder. Without it, many teleportation spells cannot be cast."
Hoffa turned his head mechanically, "What are you talking about? What can this bird's blood do?"
"The raw material of the teleportation array, the dodo is a magical creature that can shift shape at will. Many wizards can't do this. Their bloodlines contain magical space magic power."
Joy said: "That's exactly the case. This kind of bird has been hunted and killed in captivity, and there are not many existing numbers."
Hoffa's expression was a little dull, and he immediately thought of the school's destroyed teleportation array. There is no doubt that the murderer who killed the dodo and the one who destroyed the school's teleportation array are definitely the same person.
The teleportation circle is destroyed, causing Indra to come to the school to find him. Now that Indo just came, did the destroyer cut off the source directly? It's really decisive.
